Job description
Critical role in overseeing successful delivery of the game, on time, on budget and to quality. Responsible for managing the schedule, managing the team and developing the careers of all in the team.

Most importantly, the PM/DD provides leadership. They are responsible for building and evolving an effective team, and for ensuring that all employees reach their potential. They know the value of everybody’s contribution to a game and keep an overview of the entire process from start to finish, maintaining effective working relationships and ensuring the successful completion of the project.


What skills does EA look for?

The PM/DD is responsible for both personnel and project management. It is a crucial role for the success of the project.

The PM/DD must be able to inspire and motivate the team working on the game, provide strong leadership when difficulties arise, and maintain enthusiasm for the project from start to finish. They must demonstrate an ability to build and energize the team by exhibiting a positive approach to inspire others to excel. They must also be able to effectively delegate responsibility, as well as coach and lead effectively.

The PM/DD must possess highly effective interaction skills. They are able to stay objective and fair when dealing with sensitive situations and use a win-win approach to negotiate or resolve conflict. As part of this they demonstrate excellent listening and communication skills, including the ability to interpret non-verbal messages and communicate team and project goals in a clear, concise, and strategic manner.

The PM/DD must have strong project management experience, which can come from a host of different industries, not just entertainment. They understand project management methodology, and can model systems and reports using Excel, Project, Word, VISIO, and other project management tools. EA also looks for experience managing a project from start to finish, including establishing a project plan and budget, determining task dependencies, assigning tasks, and implementing operational changes.

At EA, the PM/DD must be able to identify and mitigate risk. They must also be able to take appropriate steps to resolve difficulties, including changes to work methods, technologies, and project schedules. The ideal PM/DD takes ownership and sees projects through despite obstacles and challenging circumstances. They possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, recognize and balance priorities, and identify new methods to deal with difficult issues. They learn quickly and are able to apply new concepts, principles, and procedures to maintain a solution-oriented approach while dealing with any challenge that comes their way.

Responsibilities
Establish an overall project schedule based on the individual task estimates
Determine the resource requirements to meet the task requirements
Validate task duration and determine task dependencies
Determine task dependencies, and assign tasks to team resources as appropriate
Establish test plans / success criteria for each task
Manage the change request process
Decompose change requests into component tasks, and estimate the impact of each change request on project schedule, budget, and resources
Communicate to project stakeholders the impact of each requested change, and produce a work breakdown structure from a design document
Provide inspiring leadership by proactively meeting or communicating with employees individually to monitor and prevent potential problems or concerns
Reward and recognize performance and provides coaching on performance related issues
Monitor workload and recognize extra effort
Participate in development of retention programs
Ensure adequate equipment, tools and support are provided for team members
Work with team members to develop and pursue a career action plan and identify potential growth opportunities
Provide team members with information on self-study, courses and training opportunities
Participate in employees performance evaluations
Participate in the recruitment of new team members
Reviewing CVs, interviewing and assessing candidates
Enhance personal understanding of the production process and actively offers input
Provide input for departmental planning (i.e. resource planning, cost estimates etc.)
Facilitate process improvements across departments
Show comfort in moving beyond micro-management of junior staff and direct delegated responsibility effectively.

Skills And Experience
5+ years of software development experience
4 years Project Management experience
Proficient in Agile Projects Management practices
3 years of leadership experience (line management)
Strong negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills
Effective communication skills across all levels of an organization
Degree in Computer Science or equivalent would be an asset
Excellent English skills
